The Haven at The Resiliency House
The Haven
The Haven is a scalable and replicable community-based initiative of Help Me Sprout, Inc., envisioned as a safe, welcoming, and supportive space where children, families, and older adults can come together, build meaningful intergenerational relationships, and strengthen their sense of connection and belonging. By creating opportunities for older adults to mentor and connect with younger generations, The Haven seeks to reduce social isolation, foster a sense of purpose, and support emotional well-being and reduced anxiety across generations.
We have identified a location in Long Island City, New York, and are currently working to secure the funding needed to bring The Haven to life. The Haven will serve as a central community resource and referral hub, where parents and caregivers can learn about trusted resources and services available within their community—including mental health, family support, educational, and other supportive services—and receive guidance on where to turn when additional help is needed.
For children and young people, The Haven will be a place to feel safe, build healthy connections, discover their strengths, and simply have a place where they belong. The space will host educational, creative, and resilience-building programs, including Young Writers at The Resiliency House, where young people can explore writing, storytelling, self-expression, and finding their voice. Ultimately, The Haven will bring resources, relationships, and opportunities together under one roof—strengthening the community around children so that, even in the face of adversity, they have the support they need to sprout.
